Birgitta Lund (b.1964), lives and works in Copenhagen, Denmark. POC member since 2006
She graduated from the International Center of Photography in New York where she lived and worked for 18 years. Her work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions throughout the United States and Europe. In 2005 she won the Prix Fondation HSBC pour la Photographie and the book “In Transit” was published by Actes Sud. She is represented by Julie Saul Gallery, New York.
Her new project “The Garden” (2011) is photographed in Tivoli Gardens, an old amusement park in the middle of Copenhagen, Denmark. Here people of all different nationalities and ethnicities meet in a world of fantasy. An imaginary Orient with fake palaces and minarets forms the backdrop of the place. It’s a surreal world, yet it mirrors the dreams and fears of life outside the entrance. A monograph with works from the series will be published by Kodoji Press, Switzerland in late 2012.
